Packing for Pemba for the Christmas weekend, had instant noodles, and took a nice luxury coach to Tanga. Used the internet, withdrew 300,000 TSH ($270) using my ATM card successfully! Yay, have access to funds in case I run out. Went to the airport and took a small plane to the island of Pemba, the flight took around 30 minutes.
Its a really nice place, fantastic views of the sea. Very relaxing.
Met a few other UK students who knew one of the original UK students we knew from Teule. They made us write down our passport numbers... Hari and I were quite suspicious so we made up fake numbers to give them... Why would they want our passport details....
The first night we had a Christmas eve dinner, we had a table of 9 set up for us, but a holidaying couple took 2 of our seats on our table. Very strange. So we had to bring 2 more chairs and dinner settings from another table to squeeze on and even then they didn't get the hint and leave, they just stayed on our table while we talked over them and they just talked to each other. We were all a bit annoyed so we didn't talk to them at all. I had a kalamari dish with rice and chips. Was hoping it would be fried kalamari like the stuff we get in Perth, however it was boiled with tomato sauce. It was alright, but could have been better.
We chatted till quite late and went to bed. I was so sleepy.
